Total Synthesis of Pimaradiene and Sandarapimaradiene Diterpenoids

In general, we are interested in the asymmetric total synthesis of (+)-pimaradiene and (–)-sandaracopimaradiene for the following reseaons:

• their divergent selective synthesis from one common precursor has not been targeted yet
• the two epimeric natural product are perfect synthetic targets for our desymmetrising approach
• testing our hypothesis that these two natural products are the general starting material for CYP-enzyme-catalyzed oxidations towards higher-oxidized pimaradiene and sandaracopimaradienes
